The School of Graduate Studies (SGS), University of Ghana, officially commenced its MPhil Thesis Writing Bootcamp today, Wednesday, 24th June 2026, setting the tone for what promises to be an impactful three-day academic engagement.
Bringing together MPhil students from diverse programmes, the bootcamp is designed to strengthen academic writing, enhance productivity, and accelerate thesis completion.
π A Strong Start: Welcome and Introductions
The day began with opening remarks by the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Prof. Patrick Asamoah Sakyi, who created a warm and engaging atmosphere for all participants.
Students were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and share their respective thesis topics β a moment that not only fostered connection but also highlighted the breadth and diversity of research currently being undertaken at SGS.

The first academic session, facilitated by Dr. Alimsiwen Ayaawan, focused on βThinking and Writing at the Postgraduate Level.β
In this session, students were introduced to essential strategies for developing structured, coherent, and logically progressive academic writing. Emphasis was placed on:
- Maintaining clear flow and organization in writing
- Developing arguments that build systematically
- Writing with purpose and academic precision
The session set a solid intellectual foundation for participants, equipping them with practical techniques to improve the quality and readability of their theses.
