The University of Ghana is once again alive with joy, colour, and academic prestige as the 2026 Congregation ceremonies for the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) officially commenced on Tuesday, 10th February 2026. A week of celebration, recognition and scholarly pride unfolded across two major venues—the Great Hall and the Cedi Conference Centre—where dreams, determination, and years of rigorous research received fitting honour.

The week’s ceremonies began with four vibrant sessions—morning and afternoon events on 10th and 12th February—each filled with music, culture, academic brilliance, and heartfelt pride from families and supervisors. The following week promises even more celebration, with two additional morning sessions on 17th and 20th February 2026, continuing the tradition of excellence that defines the University of Ghana.

The ceremonies had been graced by valedictorians whose stories reflected brilliance, leadership, and purposeful scholarship.

Dr. Abubakar stands tall as a symbol of scholarly excellence. His PhD journey in Mathematics has produced impactful research and demonstrated a deep passion for advancing education. His commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge continues to inspire both students and faculty across the University.

Prince Collins Darko is on a remarkable journey toward becoming a leading Archaeobotanist. Beyond his research, he selflessly mentors younger students in archaeobotanical techniques, building the next generation of scientists. His dedication to discovery and community embodies the spirit of SGS scholarship.

A passionate educator and emerging leader, Ms. Bridget Osei‑Owusu continues to shine in her pursuit of an M.A. in Educational Leadership and Management. With her foundation in Education Management from the University of Cape Coast, she represents excellence, purpose, and the transformative power of graduate education.

Clara Opoku Boakye, Esq., has distinguished herself among the LLM and Master of Arts in Law graduands. A lawyer, writer, and social justice advocate, Clara graduates as a KGL Foundation Scholar with an LLM in Human Rights Law. Her academic journey—from being the Best Graduating Law Student at KAAF University to advancing globally as a Mastercard Foundation scholar—reflects discipline, vision, and a commitment to impacting society through the law.

None of these accomplishments would be possible without the exceptional faculty, dedicated supervisors, and hardworking administrative staff of the University of Ghana—especially the School of Graduate Studies.

Their unwavering mentorship, guidance, and commitment to academic excellence have shaped the journeys of thousands of postgraduate students. From course registrations to thesis defence, SGS staff continue to ensure that every student receives the support needed to excel.

These ceremonies do more than award degrees—they ignite hope. For continuing students, the success of this year’s graduands is a powerful reminder that:

“With focus, discipline, and the right mentorship, every academic dream is attainable.”

The achievements witnessed reaffirm the University of Ghana’s place as a leading center of research, innovation, and knowledge creation.

As we look forward to the remaining sessions on 17th and 20th February, the School of Graduate Studies invites the entire University community to join in celebrating academic excellence, resilience, and the boundless potential of our scholars.

Congratulations to all graduands.
Ayekoo!
Your achievements illuminate the future—not just for yourselves but for the nation and the world.
