The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) held a day’s retreat to reflect on and evaluate its activities for the previous year, and recharge for the years ahead.

In his opening remarks, the Dean, Professor Robert Darko Osei, commended staff and management for their hard work and continuous efforts towards the growth of the School.

During the retreat, Unit Heads and representatives took turns to give brief overviews of their activities over the previous year, highlighting achievements as well as areas for improvement.

The School Administrator, Mr. Michael Opare Atuah, delivered a detailed presentation on the Vision, Mission, Core Values, and the 2024–2029 Strategic Plan of the University. Staff were enlightened on how the School’s activities align with the strategic plan and were urged to let their service delivery be guided by the University’s core values: Integrity, Commitment, Respect, and Loyalty. Emphasis was placed on the need for the School’s activities to be technology-driven, using a people-centred approach.
As part of its commitment to the well-being of staff, the retreat also included a session on stress management. The Vice-Dean, Professor Irene Kretchy, educated staff on how to recognise signs of stress and identify its triggers. She outlined coping strategies and mechanisms to help staff manage stress effectively and encouraged them to seek help when necessary. Her presentation ended with a practical session to help staff de-stress.

Staff were given the opportunity to share challenges they face in the performance of their duties and to suggest innovative ideas that could help transform the School and help the University to achieve overall strategic goals.
Overall, the retreat provided a valuable platform for staff to re-evaluate their activities, reconnect with one another, and recharge their energies to provide a transformative experience for students, staff, and faculty, affirming the Dean’s earlier remarks.
